John Alick McConkey obtained his LLB undergraduate degree in Belfast before moving to Cardiff where he competed his Legal Practice Course. He qualified as a Solicitor in 2012 and gained a broad range of employment law experience while working at a firm in Cardiff before moving to a larger practice based in West London.
John acts for individuals as well as employers. His range of expertise includes drafting consultancy agreements, employment contracts and employee handbooks as well as writing letters on behalf of employers to employees engaged in disciplinary proceedings. John also regularly provides advice to employers in relation to redundancy situations which involve staff consultations together with the provision of redundancy selection criteria.
John has a wide breadth of experience when it comes to providing advice to employees about the terms and implications of settlement agreements. In situations where he deems further negotiation to be necessary, John regularly secures far higher settlements for his clients than they originally anticipated. He has also issued claims in the Employment Tribunal for a range of issues including, unfair dismissal, discrimination, harassment and unlawful deduction of wages.
John is registered with the Solicitor’s Regulation Authority and is a member of The Law Society and the Employment Lawyers Association.
